We know that trade show season is starting to get into high gear and a lot of our business partners will be making presentations at these events. Presenting is not an easy task. You have to make sure that your content is interesting, valuable, and that your presentation skills are entertaining. You can have the best slideshow prepared, but if you don’t bring a personality to the event, then no one is going to listen. Below are some tips to help all the presenters make a big impact at their trade shows.
- If the event has a Twitter hashtag then pre-promote your speech. The day before and the morning before your presentation, be sure to let people know you are speaking, what you are speaking on, and what time using the hashtag.
Do not put more than 20 words on a single slide. If people have to read your slide, you’ll lose them. Use headlines and text to cue your stories, and pictures to amplify your point.
- Don’t stand behind the podium. A podium places an unnecessary barrier between you and your audience. Talk with the audience, not at them.
- In order to be remembered, you need to use everything at your disposal. A wardrobe is key. Find something that people will remember. Have a signature color that you wear every time you present, something that people will take note of and remember.
- Show your pearlie whites and smile! It’s contagious. Always start the presentation with a big smile and set cues for yourself to smile through out the presentation. The more people smile, the more positive they will be in general. It also helps to keep people awake.
- Give away something for participation. I almost always give a signed copy of my book away to reward participation. It helps with questions later and always gets you talking with someone after the presentation.
Above are just some of the key tactics, but it should definitely help get you started in the right direction. Remember, if you are energetic, your audience will be energetic. Make sure to be passionate about whatever you are presenting so it shines through. What other tips would you add to this list?

At DataSource we believe that one of the most important steps when working with a client is the assessment and planning stage. This is one of the first steps where we establish a benchmark so that we can set realistic targets and goals. We analyze your business processes and procedures to understand your current business environment in order to provide recommendations that are specific with target and cost savings objectives. We have worked with many clients throughout the years and we have found a set of questions that are really key to this portion of the assessment. They will help tailor the recommendations we offer. Below are the top 10 assessment questions that we have found most useful:
What current processes does your company have in place? What processes are actually used?
- What are each processes used for? And who is involved with each process?
- When is the last time you evaluated your processes?
- Who keeps the processes updated?
- What are the top 5 issues you are currently facing?
- What is good about your current process?
- What are 3 specific goals you would like to attain?
- When do you want everything set up by?
- How do you currently measure your productivity?
- Are your current processes aligned with your overall business strategy?
There are a ton of other questions and evaluations that we preform. But these questions are a great place to start the process and get an introduction into the company that you are going to be working with. Data Source conducts a complete supply chain analysis so that we can maximize your cost reduction potential. Industry-specific assessments can be conducted for the commercial, restaurant/hospitality, and automotive industries.

QR Codes are the “in” thing right now! They are so much fun and it’s great to be able access a large amount of information through one click. Restaurants definitely are capitalizing on this marketing tool. We have seen them in all sorts of ways. It’s a great way to gain exposure, connect with clients and increase sales. If you in the restaurant industry and have hesitated to jump into using this new marketing tool below are some great ways to incorporate QR codes into your marketing plan.
Daily Specials – This is a great way of retaining customers and making it easier on your staff so that they don’t have to repeat the specials over. Also, customers like this because they can actually read the specials at their own convenience.
- Taking Orders – You can place QR codes on ads and menus that will take people to a page where they can order online. This is the perfect option for delivery and carry-out.
- Nutritional Information – Placing a QR code on your menu that takes people to the nutritional facts will keep your menu looking clutter free and people will still get the information they want. All you need to do is set up a mobile friendly page with the information.
As you can see, there a plenty of different ways QR codes can be used. Other ways include making reservations, getting discounts, and getting detailed directions to the restaurant.
Have you used QR codes in your marketing campaigns?

Waste is unavoidable when anything is mass produced. DataSource knows digital on demand is the smarter and more efficient way for any company to meet their print supply needs. For business forms, marketing supplies, training materials, and personnel management packets, mass ordering and storing just does not make economical sense.
When a company has limited space, storage is a real concern. Wasting resources and company square footage takes away from other options for that very space. Developing a print supply chain management process is a better option.
DataSource can maintain a steady stream of print supply materials on demand. By using the print on demand capabilities of DataSource, business materials are designed, printed and distributed on an as-needed basis, with minimal cost or waste when changes need to be implemented.
By maintaining a close and personal relationship with each client, DataSource designs, develops and delivers print materials with impeccable efficiency. Individualized service with the capability to adjust and evolve print supply needs with minimal waste makes DataSource both the smart choice and the economically sound choice.

From local small businesses to global chain restaurant and hospitality businesses, they all have the same needs. They all need growing sales and efficient operations to be successful.
With DataSource, efficient operations and growing sales is an attainable goal. One way DataSource is able to help restaurant and hospitality clients is to personalize print supply needs. One way to do this that is through direct mail. With a personalized message, DataSource can help clients target a specific client base. If the direct mail message is not individualized or sent out to the correct consumer demographic, it is simply a waste of time and money, for both the restaurant and the print supply chain management team.
Utilizing the direct mailing capabilities that DataSource can customize for any restaurant or hospitality chain business is the perfect way for a business to put its best foot forward to both potential and established clients, while simultaneously gathering important information to improve the overall business. Drawing in new clients while maintaining the trust and respect of established customers can help any business become more successful.
