Digital marketing is promoting a brand using digital advertising channels, which include Internet, mobile and social media platforms. The more traditional forms of digital marketing include television and radio, which are still being used, but the focus is now shifting to Internet, mobile and social media. Even though the channels are shifting you still need to create a strategy the channels that you use. Below are 5 practices to follow for creating a successful digital strategy:
Develop a detailed strategy. This means you and your team will have to have a full understanding of the technology, it’s capabilities and how it can impact your business. Make sure the channels you pick fit within your overall marketing strategy.
- Get mobile. If your website is not already mobile friendly then that should be on the top of your to do list. Many people are starting to use their mobile phones to research companies versus computers. If your website is not mobile friendly people are more likely not to view it.
- Get your team on board. Educate everyone in the company so they understand the overall digital impact on the business. And then gather your managers to help brainstorm ideas for each platform.
- Build a content plan. Number three will be very helpful here. Brainstorming sessions are a must for this component, so that you can get out creative, relevant information that will have your customers coming back and interacting.
- Study your competition. Review what they are doing or have done. See what tactics they used work and which ones didn’t. Find out where your target audience is and what needs are not being met by your competitors. This will help build a strong strategy.
There are so many other tips regarding creating digital strategies, but we wanted to touch on some of the most important ones. A lot of research must be done in advance to be successful; you can’t just hire an intern to tweet for post on your Facebook. You need a plan for your efforts to be successful. What other tips do you have to add?

Our Flexible, Scalable Spectrum of Print Supply Management Services Can Reduce Your Total Cost of Ownership
You can expect the best results for reducing the total cost of ownership from your print supply chain. DataSource brings a unique, well-honed perspective on print supply chain management that ties to real, bottom-line savings.
Printing companies tout the importance of the holistic view, yet DataSource turns that theory into action. It is true that there are more savings to be found in the ‘indirect spend’ than the direct purchase amounts (though there are savings to be found there, too). But how many companies are structured to tackle that issue head on?

For every $100 in print management expense, only $14 are in actual printing costs. The real savings come from the indirect cost factors of the print supply chain – design, procurement, management distribution, etc. DataSource can reduce costs throughout the entire print supply chain.
At DataSource, our focus is fundamentally different – services are the backbone of our offering. From the beginning, each client engagement is structured as a service, not as a way to fill printing presses. The difference shows in our pricing, our aggressive approach to bringing new ideas to the table, and our willingness to set and deliver against cost savings targets.
DataSource divides its print management services into six areas. Within each of those areas, we’ll craft a relationship that matches needs, goals and existing resources. In some cases, we bring packaged, proven solutions. In others, we start small and grow as client needs change. In all instances, we deliver on our commitments.
Each engagement includes aspects of these print supply management services, and we always begin with Planning and Assessment and end with Reporting and Measurement.
